A Multicultural Retreat for Younger and Older Men
Tuesday, August 13th - Sunday, August 18th
Mendocino Woodlands, Mendocino, CA
Certain rites of passage require that everything seem upside down or collapsing in order that the esoteric or inner realm of soul might fully awaken. Seen this way, there is a growing collective trauma in the world, but also the seeds of a collective initiation waiting to happen.
At times of radical change in both individual and collective life, it becomes important to see everything differently; not simply adjust our view of things, but learn to see the world anew. Ancient traditions referred to this kind of awakening of the underlying soul as opening the "eyes of initiation."
Opening the inner eyes begins to reveal the true aim and natural path our souls would have us take. Transformation at the level of the individual soul generates the imagination and collective energy needed to change the conditions of the world.
Ultimately, it becomes a question of finding the deeper imagination of life, the enduring patterns and essential stories that reunite us to the pulse of nature and also to the heart of culture.
In the midst of an ancient forest, using stories and poems, honest speech and creative imagination, we will take an initiatory approach to the struggles of individual life and to the collective challenge of living through a time of radical disorientation and change.
Join us on this path of discovery with a diverse faculty who will present ideas and elements from tribal traditions, spiritual practices, psychological perspectives, and a rich array of personal experiences.

DONATION FOR SCHOLARSHIPS
"The Forest of Imagination" is the theme for Mosaic's week-long mentoring conference in the remarkable Mendocino Woodlands. This event focuses on mentoring diverse youth, developing elders, and bringing healing to communities troubled by violence and alienation. Key aspects of this work include: awakening genuine imagination, learning meaningful practices, and contacting the healing presence of nature. Participants include severely at-risk youth, mentors working in oppressed neighborhoods, veterans returning from war, therapists and teachers, doctors and healers from many traditions as well as artists and activists.
For this event, we have many scholarship requests from unique and deserving youth and dedicated community mentors who wish to attend. Given the general economic condition and the effects of disparity on certain communities, we need your help to provide scholarships and assist with travel expenses. Any amount you can donate will offset expenses for youth and mentors working in areas of severe poverty and risk.
Donations can be made on this registration page, online at, www.mosaicvoices.org, or through the Mosaic office at 206-935-3665.
We thank you for your support and interest in this meaningful work.
Peace and blessings,
Mosaic Staff
